Caught in the Devil's Hand

During the submission process, my manuscript was deemed a tad too long. A subplot involving the metaphysical connection between Shumei and Vallen was cut. I've posted those deleted scenes, listed below.

Deleted Scene #1: Takes place the second night after Shumei met Vallen, and she is unable to sleep. She has realized that Vallen manipulated her into a deal with him and vows to confront him when she next sees him.

Deleted Scene #2: Takes place just before Shumei visits Majo for the third time. She stops at the river for a bath after a long day of working in the field.
