*REALLY* DELETED SCENE :(

So I was excited to add a new section to the website: deleted scenes. I had put a lot of effort into the first chapter of Stay With Me, only to decide to cut the whole chapter and start with Chapter 2, which is now the start of the story. Being able to post that work and give readers a little bit more background to the story sounded awesome!

I double-clicked on the [Original] version of my story, only to find that it was the exactly same as the final version. Bwuh? Where was my original first chapter?

I apparently deleted it for real–as in, irretrievably. Pretty bummed about that. However, I did post two smaller deleted scenes from my very first novel, Caught in the Devil’s Hand, which were saved successfully. Enjoy reading them!

A PRICE THAT’S EASIER ON YOUR WALLET

For a paperback, CitDH is just a tad expensive at $17.99, which made me sweat a little because who wants to pay that much? Granted, it’s a trade paperback and just over 400 pages, but still… so if you had been worried about price, head to CitDH‘s page on Amazon, where it’s on sale for $12 (and free super-saver shipping). I hope that’s a little easier on your wallet. DX

RT 2008 CONVENTION, NEXT WEEK!

First, I’d like to announce that I did win one of the three book trailer awards up for grabs every month at New Covey Trailer Awards, the one for “Most Artistic Trailer“. Thanks to the Covey judges for selecting my trailer. I’m hoping to start working on a trailer for Oblivion and Blues.

So, I’m finally back in the States. After living in Japan for about three years and eight months, it’s at once both strange to be home and very relieving. On top of that, I’m scared to be in a transition. I’ve only been home for about ten days, but soon I’ll be heading to Pittsburgh for the RT Convention. I honestly don’t think I’m prepared with any sort of freebies or clothes or even my schedule. Getting home from Tokyo took priority, which was much more complicated than expected when you take into account how entangled you become after so many years in a foreign country: taxes to pay, utilities to cancel, furniture to dispose of, etc.

Therefore, if you come to my little table at either of the signing events on Wednesday or Saturday, I’m sorry if I don’t have anything terribly interesting laid out. I honestly got very confused twenty minutes into investigating the annual RT Convention because there were so many promotion opportunities, panels, events, parties, gift baskets, freebies one could prepare, and so on. I don’t have an agent or much experience and still don’t know what I’m doing, really. I beg your forgiveness if you feel a little disappointed. :(

Anyway, I am excited to attend. I hope to learn a lot, meet a lot of people, and hopefully come away with a much better idea of how to write better books, promote them better, and reach more readers.

CURL UP WITH A GOOD BOOK

I’m very, very excited to announce that Caught in the Devil’s Hand is finally available in print! I’m going to get my greedy little hands on a copy soon and rub my face all over it.

VOTING IS OPEN

If you were hoping to vote for your favorite trailer (even if it’s not mine of course!), then please head over to The New Covey Trailer Award page to vote for the “most intriguing trailer”. Voting is only open for about a week, though, so cast your vote ASAP!

(Mine is #13!!)

COOL SITE RECOMMENDATION

A quick announcement. I’m happy to have found a site that collects covers and book trailers for monthly contests. I submitted the trailer for Caught in the Devil’s Hand to The New Covey Trailer Awards, which I’m told is entry #13 for their February batch. Please visit their site and vote on the best entries of the month!

NEW INTERVIEW AND REVIEW

Recently, author Anny Cook posted a short set of interview quesions and a review for Caught in the Devil’s Hand. (Thanks, Anny!) By all means, please read the post if you’re interested.

I’m still chugging along with the fourth book. I don’t have much extra time between now and December 2nd: I am both working my day job and studying for the JLPT, Level 2. However, once I’ve taken the test, I’ll have a lot more time and can pick up speed on the manuscript.

I love autumn!

CREATING TITLES

I’ve had good progress with the fourth book. I’m still not sure what to call it. I always try to use a title related directly to a place or concept in the book, but so far, a good representative title hasn’t come to me. Read more
