Ruby was one of three valedictorians in high school and graduated from college with a degree in business. She then stayed in Japan for several years as an English teacher and spent most of her free time writing and studying Japanese. She is now living in the States again and is continuing to study Japanese on her own in order to pass the most difficult level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. She also writes, translates, and tries to sleep sometime. Her next project is to write a book series based on an idea that she has been trying to get onto paper for ten years.
Interesting Fact:
Ruby is very tall, even taller than her parents and older sister. She suspects that her mother had a secret midnight rendevous with a handsome time-travelling Viking.
Ruby loves movies, especially horror movies. Action movies also hold a special place in her heart, and of course, any well done romance will earn a spot on her shelf. Her favorite movies include: The Ring, The Lord of the Rings, The Last of the Mohicans, The Shining, Bridget Jones' Diary, The Matrix Trilogy, Aliens, Ghostbusters, Ever After, and 28 Days Later.
Ruby loves rollercoasters, especially those with a camera ready to take your picture. Her best rollercoaster shot was on the Indy Jones ride at Tokyo Disney Sea, in which she steered her Jeep-full of passengers with ease, headbanging her way around the archaeological digs of the world.
Unfortunately for Ruby's teeth and waistline, she is addicted to Coca-Cola. She also has a long-standing love affair with Turkey Tom sandwiches from the Jimmy John's sandwich chain, mostly found in the Midwest. Ruby eagerly devours Chinese food, Indian curry, Mexican food, Italian food, and Korean food. To get drunk, she drinks Tequila shots or cold, sweet sake.
A million years ago, Ruby and her older sister volunteered to DJ at the local college radio station. Every Thursday morning for one summer, they rose at the crack of dead to broadcast classic rock, usually starting with "Blinded by the Light" because the lyrics made Ruby laugh. They used their dry wit to give their 10 listeners a good chuckle for their morning commutes.
